SickChicken was founded by:

Erik Fretheim, Ph.D.

The SickChicken website is the outgrowth of a course in Managing the Dysfunctional Organization taught by Dr. Fretheim in the MBA program at Northwest University.

Dr. Fretheim has specialized in ordering chaos in dysfunctional organizations, and start-ups. He is an enthusiastic pursuer and student of the dysfunctional organization and enjoys nothing more than wading in hip deep.

Dr. Fretheim recently returned from a stint of active duty in Iraq. The ultimate in dysfunctional organizations, and is now enjoying the relative calm, of "normal" dysfunctions where although things may be challenging, at least noone is trying to blow you up. This latest assignment was one of many adventures of an Lieutenant Colonel with 24 years of active and reserve experience.

Dr. Fretheim has been the CTO/CIO for I5Digital, Peek Traffic, Dealplanner, Looking Glass, Pandango, Grange Insurance Group, and Brigadoon.com. He has also been a senior executive at Siemens Business Services and MCI. Dr. Fretheim was the founder of Xpartners, a business acceleration company in England which later merged with HICL to form Xspandus. In all of these positions Dr. Fretheim has brought a high degree of focus and enthusiasm for the pursuit of effectiveness, best captured, perhaps, by the comment of a CEO who remarked "You've done more in 6 months than we expected you to accomplish in 5 years."

In addition to teaching at Northwest University, Kirkland, WA and the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, Dr. Fretheim is a founder of Baseline Evaluations Corp and is an advisor and consultant for a number of companies, including serving as a Director on the board of the Institute for Effective Instruction, a non-profit which seeks to improve education through standardized training, evaluation, and certification of effective instruction.
